Fields of InterestMedSolve is focusing its efforts in three key areas; advancing the development of low cost therapy, providing patient advocacy for the poor and geriatric populations, and promoting patient education in surrounding communities. Development of New Therapies Because diabetes is growing at alarming rates, and in fact growing faster in poor communities, one of the major goals of MedSolve's research effort is to achieve better glycemic control for this segment of the diabetic population. We are particularly interested in reducing the horrific complications of diabetes in an effort to improve the quality of life for those affected. MedSolve has demonstrated that by applying industry proven nano and micro technologies, it can achieve greater therapeutic quality at a significantly reduced cost to the patient population. We are currently developing a low cost substitute to the Gold Standard therapy, continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion, (CSII), that we intend to provide to the poor inclusive of training at a fraction of its current cost. The development of this technology is being performed with funding based solely on donations. Although MedSolve has focused its research and development work in the field of diabetes, it continues to look for and address other areas of medicine that use historically expensive therapies, with the goal of applying newer and more cost effective technology in those areas. Patient Advocacy MedSolve advocates for the impoverished, the uninsured, the elderly, and for those who have no one to speak on their behalf regardless of diagnosis. The majority of our advocacy work is done on behalf of the people in the Watts community of Los Angeles. But our intention is to expand into lower middle class communities where the need is also great. Patient Education and Awareness In areas where the general population is impoverished there is little, if any information available to individuals as to how to effectively manage one’s personal medical care. To fill this need MedSolve also has untaken developing educational programs. These programs are targeted for those people who have the ability to advocate for themselves, but are lacking direction and specific knowledge about patient rights and available programs. MedSolve performs this service by conducting seminars and producing bi-lingual materials that contain information and answer questions concerning these issues. |
